UCLA EMC Patient Liaison Listserv

In order to make communication among the Patient Liaisons easier and more efficient, we have created a Patient Liaison Listserv. A listserv is like a community bulletin board. First you "subscribe" to the list (bulletin board.) Once you've subscribed, if you want to send a message to all the other subscribers you simply send an e-mail message to a single address, and your message is relayed to all other subscribers to the list. This can be used to request schedule changes, announce meetings, or anything else that would be of interest to the Patient Liaison group as a whole.

This is a tool for you to use as you see fit. However, we would ask that you only send messages to the list that would be of interest to the whole group. If you want to communicate with another individual Liaison, please e-mail that person privately.

In order to use the list, you must first SUBSCRIBE to it. Here's how to SUBSCRIBE:

In the Subscribing to PtLiaison-l section, fill in the Your email address and Your name  boxes. The Your name box is listed as optional, but subscription requests without a name will be rejected.

Creation of a password is optional. However it is strongly recommended that you establish one. Do not, however, use a valuable password, as a reminder of it will be emailed to you once a month in plain text. If you would like all messages to the list sent to you in a daily digest, click next to you Yes below the password boxes, otherwise leave the No choice selected. Click on the Subscribe button.

You will receive a response from the server that your request has been forwarded to the list owner for approval. This is being done to make sure that only active Patient Liaisons can subscribe. You will receive a message when your request is approved. Subscriptions must be renewed every six months. You will automatically receive a renewal notice from the server when your subscription is up for renewal.

UNSUBSCRIBING

If for any reason you wish to UNSUBSCRIBE, open the info page (http://lists.ucla.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/ptliaison-l) and scroll down to the PtLiaison-l Subscribers section. Enter your email address in the bottom box and click on the Unsubscribe or edit options button. You'll be prompted for your password and taken to the options page where you can unsubscribe. You can also change other subscription options (like changing your email address) on this page.

SENDING A MESSAGE TO THE LIST

Now, for the important part. To send a message to the entire list, send a single email to ptliaison-l@lists.ucla.edu. Type in the appropriate subject in the Subject line, then compose the e-mail as you would normally. When you SEND the message, it will be relayed to everyone on the list. You will receive an acknowledgement (but not a copy) of the message from the server. If you'd like to get an actual copy of the message, you can go to the options page and make that change.
